The new mastersheet has been assembled. It can be found here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16nG21izfoN4-kDfoCE-c1jex8_cAm1IApBrR-i5RgI8/edit?usp=sharing
ABOUT THE SHEET/TRACKING CHANGES
* Everyone got thrown off IR on the sheet and in Fantrax. If they are on IR on CapFriendly, you can post in Player Movement under your team and place them back on IR.
* I'm sure there are some differences when it comes to who's in the NHL and who's in the minors on your sheet vs. Fantrax. I don't give much of a shit until it matters, but don't make things worse by moving guys back and forth.
* Rather than let everyone bury their entire NHL roster and sign a whole other one, there's not gonna be any worry-free stashing of NHLers in the minors anymore. I'll up the NHL limit on players to 28 in Fantrax during the offseason. You can't go above that.
* If you want to send an NHLer who does not qualify to be in the minors to the AHL, he will have to go through demotion waivers. Anyone on an ELC or in the minors according to CapFriendly does NOT need to pass through waivers.
RFAs and ELCs
My next items on the agenda are to highlight the ELCs on the sheet and to update all RFAs. Given that everyone accepts 99.9 percent of their RFAs, we're gonna do things differently going forward. I will do an initial sweep of every player and post a full list of new contracts. I will not list ELCs, those will be accepted automatically. I will post everything else, and date it, on the mastersheet, and you will have 30 days to DECLINE this new contract. Your decision at that time is final.
Example: Mat Barzal signed a lengthy extension months ago. I will update his contract in KPD and post on the waivers tab on the sheet, dated July 4, and Ottawa will have 30 days to decline. If he does decline, Barzal will play out the remainder of his contract in KPD. Said contract concluded at the end of last season, and he would become an unrestricted free agent.
DRAFT
The KPD Entry Draft kicks off Wednesday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m. Only players selected in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft can be picked. Please pay attention to when you're gonna be up. You can create a queue and auto-select. It's not that hard. I would love for this thing to not take a month to complete. It's more enjoyable for everyone.
MARKET VALUE
After much consideration, I am going to enact the Market Value System for Free Agents this summer. If it doesn't go well, we can always revert, but I think it will add more fun (blind bids like real life: fuck yeah), and REALISM, which is what we're striving for anyway, otherwise we'd be in silly redraft leagues where the long term is an afterthought.
If the winning bid for a free agent does not have an AAV that meets the minimum based on the players FT score from the previous season, they will not automatically win the player, unless they are the only bid.
If there are multiple bidders and the market value AAV isn’t met, the Commissioner will declare a “best and final” scenario, and the GMs that offered the three highest AAVs on the player will be contacted via Discord to make their best and final offer on the player.
That offer does not need to be any higher than the last one posted, but it can not be lowered or retracted. If the owner doesn’t respond in 48 hours, their last PB post will be considered their best and final.
The team offering the highest AAV will be awarded the player, as this is a far more accurate representation of IRL scenarios. If the AAVs are tied, the longer contract will win.
If the contract length and AAV are tied, the team with the highest bid before the “best and final” was triggered will win the player.
