Welcome to Knuckle Puck Dynasty, a 32-team Dynasty League where each GM will own their own team and control the daily aspects of your team.
The league started in the 2020-21 season. To begin, there was a team draft where each GM selected one real life NHL team. In selecting a team, the GM took on part of their roster, owning any player in their organization (NHL & AHL) with 20+ NHL games played. The GM also select 20 "prospects" (defined as any player with LESS than 20 career NHL games) to keep.
The cost for the premium version of Fantrax has increased to $99.95. The fee will be split up between the 32 teams and will be included in your fee upon joining the Fantrax league.
Total payment upon joining will be $33.12
This league is operated in several places:
- Fantrax: Day to day matchups, scoring
- Google docs: master roster management & tracking
- Proboards: all transaction & league business performed here
- Discord: Day to day league chat
Upon joining, please change your Proboards and Discord display name to your team name GM (real name) or Real Name (Team Name).
For example: Bruins GM (Anthony) Anthony (Bruins GM)
Every owner will be given ONE (1) amnesty buyout, which can be used at any point to buyout a player and not have to pay any cap penalty. You get one buyout per your time in the league. All new owners who take over for an existing team, or coming in as an expansion team will receive one additional amnesty buyout that MUST be used prior to the start of the first full season in the league
Teams will have an active game day roster consisting of four (4) centers, four (4) left wings, four (4) right wings, six (6) defensemen, and one (1) goalie.
A team's active roster can consist of a MINIMUM of nineteen (19) players, and a MAXIMUM of twenty four (24) players. You may also only carry a maximum of three (3) active goaltenders. At least 15 of the players on your active roster must be active on an NHL team. You are required to have one (1) rostered NHL goalie, and no more than three (3). If you have a player who is injured, or is in that team's minor league system, that will not count toward the fifteen. This is to prevent teams from having a Tank War.
Intentionally leaving active players on the bench, if there is space for them in your lineup, is not allowed. You MAY NOT start injured players over healthy players and MAY NOT start any player who is a Free Agent or is retired in real life. Who you start is your decision, but intentionally leaving players on the bench will not be tolerated and the penalties that follow will be determined by the rules committee.
There will be no games played minimum to start the 2020-21 season. However, if the rules committee feels that teams are abusing this in order to tank, a games played minimum CAN be implemented at any time.
The league will feature a $81.5M salary cap, and a $61.2M salary floor. This mirrors the IRL salary cap. If the IRL salary cap changes from season to season, the KPD salary cap will mirror those changes. All teams must meet these figures by the start of the league’s first scoring period. If not, any statistics for that day (or however many days the roster is illegal) will NOT be counted.
In the off-season ONLY (end of KPD Stanley Cup Final to day of first scoring period of the following season) you are allowed to exceed the salary cap by 10%. This gives you some flexibility to build your roster around players who will be placed on IR once the season begins. Roster min/max are waived, and players can be sent to your minor roster without needing to clear waivers.
Each team will have SIX (6) injured-reserve (IR) spots. A player must be on IR, or LTIR in real life in order to be IR eligible in KPD. Any IRL roster questions will be referred to using Cap Friendly. If a player is placed on IR, they will not count toward the roster minimum/maximum, nor the salary cap.
Players must be removed from your IR within 48-hours of when they were removed from IR IRL.
Each team is allowed to carry a minor league roster of 50 players.
KPD will implement a weekly categories scoring system. The categories for skaters will be Assists (A), Blocks (Blk), Goals (G), Hits (Hit), Penalty Minutes (PIM) Face-off wins (FOW) Time on Ice (TOI) Shots on Goal (SOG), and Special Teams Points (STP). The categories for goalies will be Saves (SV), Shutouts (SHO), Wins (W), Goals-Against Average (GAA) and Save Percentage (SV%).
Two goalie starts per week minimum for goalie stats to count.
Ties are allowed in the regular season, so there are no tiebreakers. In the event of a tie for lottery/playoff appearance purposes, the first tiebreaker is head-to-head regular season record. If there is a tie there as well, next would be most goals plus assists for that matchup (or most goals plus assists for the season, if tie is for a playoff spot), and after that would be more points in the regular season standings. If there is still a tie after that, the commissioner will address it then.
A player may be sent to your minor league roster (AHL) if they satisfy one or multiple of the following conditions:
-The player is in an organization's minor leagues
-The player is in a junior league
-The player is playing in an international league
-The player is still on their entry-level contract (ELC)
When you send down one of these players, the number under "Options" will decrement. Each season, each player will get 5 options that can be used throughout the season, and that number will reset at the beginning of each season. Decrements will not begin until after the first scoring period.
You CAN send down a player who does not meet any of these conditions, but you will have to put him through Demotion Waivers (see below).
If you call up a player who does not have an NHL contract (for...some reason), then they will be given the max ELC deal, 3 years at $930,000. Once sent back down, they will go back to having no contract, and if they sign an NHL deal while on your active roster, the IRL contract will be applied.
A player's options will NOT decrement from the end of the KPD Stanley Cup Final until the start of the next KPD season.
IMPORTANT: Players in the minors will NOT count against the cap until they hit 20 career NHL games played. If a player in the minors is still on an ELC and has hit 20 career NHL games played, they will NOT count against the cap. Members of the rules committee will do a weekly roster sweep to determine if any players in the minors have exceeded 20 games since the start of the previous scoring period.
During the offseason, players can freely be sent between the minors and your NHL roster, regardless if they meet the above requirements. However, when the opening night roster lock deadline has passed, any player in your minor roster who do not meet the above requirements will be subject to the normal waiver procedures.
The KPD Regular Season is 20 Weeks long
- Note some Weeks might be longer than 7 days based on the NHL schedule and us condensing it into 25 total weeks including playoffs and our 2 week long KPD Stanley Cup Final.
Each team will play 4 matchups per week, with two weeks of 5 matchups. By the end of the regular season, each team will have completed 82 matchups
Each team will play the same opponents as their NHL counterpart. Order will vary but it will be the identical 82 matchups.
Schedule will be made and posted before the season begins using the same formula the NHL uses
Western Conference (Pacific Division)
-Conference (Divisional): 4 games × 6 opponents + 5 games x 1 opponent = 29
-Conference (Non-divisional): 3 games × 7 opponents = 21
-Inter-conference: 2 games × 16 opponents = 32
Western Conference (Central Division)
-Conference (Divisional): 5 games × 2 opponents + 4 games x 4 opponents = 26
-Conference (Non-divisional): 3 games × 8 opponents = 24
-Inter-conference: 2 games × 16 opponents = 32
Eastern Conference
-Conference (Divisional): 4 games x 7 opponents = 28
-Conference (Non-divisional): 3 games × 8 opponents = 24
-Inter-conference: 2 games × 15 opponents = 30
The KPD Playoffs will have the same structure as the IRL Stanley Cup Playoffs. This means that there will be 16 playoff teams: the top three teams from each division, and four total Wild Card teams (two from the West, two from the East).
In the event of a tie, the first tiebreaker is head-to-head regular season record. If there is a tie there as well, next would be most goals plus assists for that matchup (or most goals plus assists for the season, if tie is for a playoff spot), and after that would be more points in the regular season standings. If there is still a tie after that, the commissioner will address it then.
32 teams x $30 = $960
Stanley Cup Champion: $570
Runner Up: $225
KPD Pacific Division Winner: $25
KPD Central Division Winner: $25
KPD Metro Division Winner: $25
KPD Atlantic Division Winner: $25
KPD Presidents' Trophy Winner: $25
Eastern Conference Runner Up: $20
Western Conference Runner Up: $20
If a team has a player who has their contract in this league expire as a Restricted Free Agent, the team will have the option to accept or decline the player's IRL contract extension once it is signed.
If the team accepts the extension, the player will have their contract in this league 100% match the IRL deal. If the team declines the extension, the player will head to free agency, where he can be signed by any team as a UFA.
When a player signs a contract/extension, one of the members of the rules committee will try their best to notify the owner. This will not always happen though, so it is best for owners to be responsible for their own players' contracts.
If a player signs a deal in the offseason, the owner will have until the first game of the regular season to accept/decline the contract. If no decision is made by this point, the player will become a UFA and then will be open to free agency rules (unless there are extenuating circumstances deemed valid by the Commissioner).
If a player signs a deal during the season AND the player is in the NHL (for example, William Nylander during his holdout in 2018), the owner will have 30 DAYS from being notified of the signing by a Commissioner to accept/decline their deal. If no decision is made by this point, the player will hit the open market as a UFA (unless there are extenuating circumstances deemed valid by the Commissioner).
If a player signs a deal during the season AND the player is in the minors (for example, Joey Keane signed his ELC with the Rangers on March 1), the owner will have until the end of the IRL Stanley Cup Final to accept/decline the contract. If no decision is made by this point, the player will hit the open market (unless there are extenuating circumstances deemed valid by the Commissioner).
If a player signs an extension that does not take effect until a future season, no decision is required until that season begins. If no decision is made by this point, the player will hit the open market (unless there are extenuating circumstances deemed valid by the Commissioner).
Keep in mind that even if a player has not been accepted/declined, their contract will still figure into any cap hit figures.
Free agency will be open for most of the season, except during a freeze period from the Trade Deadline until after the KPD Entry Draft.
Free agents can be bid on on ProBoards under Transactions -> Free Agency -> whatever position.
Free agents will be auctioned off, meaning every team has the chance to acquire a free agent. As in an auction, the highest bidder wins. However, to win the auction, your bid must stand the highest for at least 24 hours.
You may NOT cancel pending signings. You must accept the signing, and address any issues after it is official.
Players are only eligible for free agency if they are signed to or have their rights owned by an NHL team.
The minimum bid is $0.78M. There is no maximum salary, but UFA and Team Tag contracts must fit within the following parameters:
$0.78M - $1.50M AAV you can offer a max of 2 years.
$1.51M - $3.00M AAV you can offer a max of 4 years.
$3.01 AAV and above - age maximums apply.
For players 29 and under you can offer a max of seven (7) years.
For players 30-34 you can offer a max of five (5) years.
For players 35 and older you can offer a max of three (3) years.
These apply to both skaters and goalies.
Skaters and goalies with no NHL or AHL game experience are not eligible to be signed via free agency and must be "claimed." (See blow)
Remember, the per-year salary over the life of the contract remains constant for KPD-signed players.
When bidding on UFAs, you must multiply years by cash. For example, 3 yrs @ $.80 (multiplied it's $2.4) would beat a 1 yr @ $2.3 (multiplied it's $2.3) offer.
You must out-bid by the multiplied total of $.10 for it to be valid.
Players are only eligible for free agency if they are signed to or have their rights owned by an NHL team.
Players will be placed in our league where they are IRL (active roster if they are active in the NHL, minors if they are in a minor league) as of December 25, 2019.
Free agents who are signed in the offseason CANNOT be traded until the start of the ensuing KPD regular season. Once the season starts, they can be traded normally.
IMPORTANT NOTE: NCAA players CANNOT be signed until they are either drafted or signed by an NHL team.
Claiming new players via waivers will be open for most of the season, except during a freeze period from the Trade Deadline until after the KPD Entry Draft.
The initial waiver wire order will be the reverse order of the inaugural team draft.
To claim a player off of waivers, reply to a waiver post with the word "claim". If more than one team makes a claim, the player will be awarded to the the team with the highest waiver wire priority. If a team would like to claim multiple players, please rank your priority of how you want them claimed (i.e.: Claim [1] on the guy you want most, and decrement from there).
If no bids are placed on a waived player within 48 hours, the player clears waivers, becoming a free agent. Normal bidding process will be used for any players on waivers. Teams will have 48 hours from when a player is placed onto waivers to place a claim.
You MAY NOT edit, or delete a claim once you submit it.
You may NOT cancel pending signings. You must accept the signing, and address any issues after it is official.
You may breach a contract (IRL or KPD) without a penalty if one of the following conditions are met:
1. Player receives a prison sentence of at least 1 year.
2. Player dies while under contract.
If a player elects to play in a foreign league, you ARE responsible for their salary if they are released/demoted after being signed to a KPD contract. You are not responsible for their salary if they're terminated while on their IRL contract.
If a player does not meet the qualifications listed in Call-Ups and Send-Downs, he can still be sent to the minors using demotion waivers.
If the player goes through demotion waivers unclaimed, he will go to the minors, and the team will only have to pay 50% of that player's cap hit. These are the only players in the minors who will be at 50% their cap hit.
If the player is claimed, the claiming team must assign him to their active roster. The claiming team will be responsible for the whole salary, and the waiving team will be cleared of all penalties.
You may NOT cancel pending signings. You must accept the signing, and address any issues after it is official.
If a team no longer wishes to own a player's services, they can be placed on Termination Waivers.
If the player is either on their ELC, still has not signed their first contract, or does not have a contract at all, they can be waived for no cap penalty. However, if the player was signed via free agency in KPD, you will have to pay a 50% cap penalty, regardless of their IRL status.
For all other players, if the player is unclaimed, the owning team pays a penalty of 50% each season that fell under the players contract when he was owned by your team. If a player is claimed, the waiving team no longer has to pay the penalty.
You may NOT cancel pending signings. You must accept the signing, and address any issues after it is official.
Amnesty buyouts will work as follows:
-Every current owner will receive one (1) amnesty clause.
-Every new owner that comes into the league will receive one (1) amnesty clause.
If you would like to use your amnesty buyout on a player, you would make a thread under "Termination Waivers," saying you are using your amnesty clause on him.
This amnesty clause can be used to release any player on your team, at any salary, with no cap penalty. If the player is claimed, the claiming owner assumes the player's entire salary. Even if the player is claimed, that will count as the waiving owner's one amnesty.
If the player goes unclaimed, he will become a normal FA to be bid on.
Each new owner gets one additional courtesy buyout that must be used prior to the start of the owner's first full season.
Amnesty clauses are not tradable. Once you've used your amnesty clause you will not receive another one, so be smart about it.
For the inaugural season, you will also be allowed one (1) complimentary amnesty buyout, in addition to the one (1) normal amnesty buyout each GM gets as outlined above. With this amnesty clause, you will be allowed to terminate one (1) contract without penalty. This must be done at the time of prospect submission. If you do not use it at this time, you lose the one complimentary buyout.
To put a trade up for review, please post it under the "Trade Review" thread.
When posting your trade, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Player
Position
Contract information
Explanation behind the deal
When trades are up for review, they will be voted on by members of the trade committee. The Committee consists of seven members.
If a trade reaches three approvals, OR has more approvals than vetoes after 48 hours it will pass. If a trade reaches three vetoes, OR if there are more vetoes than approvals after 48 hours, it will be vetoed.
If a trade involves one member of the TC, the numbers stated above remains at three. If it involves two (or more) members, the number would go to two.
TC members may only change their vote after asking one of the commissioners, and receiving their permission.
The trading deadline for KPD will match the IRL trade deadline for each season. Trading will re-open shortly after the KPD Stanley Cup Final, all owners will be notified.
Draft picks can be included in any trades.
Retention of salary in trades is the only money that is allowed to be traded. The maximum amount of salary that can be retained is 40% of the player's current cap hit. No cash or cap considerations can be traded, only salary retention. An owner can only retain salary on a player for that current season and the next one, no longer than that. A player's retained cap hit must always be above the league minimum of $650,000.
You are only allowed to retain salary on a maximum of three players per season.
If a player is traded to another team and either has salary retained or an extension given post-trade, that player CANNOT be traded back to their original team within 12 months of the first trade.
If a member leaves the league in any capacity, any trades made within 48 hours prior to their official departure are subject to reversal. Trades will be put up for a re-vote at the commissioners' discretion. In the end, the committee may be subject to re-vote on the trade.
Some examples of why a trade could be reversed could be that the owner was running their team into the ground, didn't care about the league, or there was possible collusion. Again, this will be decided by the commissioners, and will go forward from there on a case-by-case basis.
You are allowed to put conditions on a trade. For the time being, you may only add one of the following conditions:
1) Player plays X number of games rest of season
2) Player's new KPD team wins X number of playoff rounds
3) Player's new KPD team makes playoffs
4) KPD lottery protection (if team finishes top-X in lottery, pick is voided/postponed/whatever)
5) Lowest/highest slot of a group of picks
Conditions must be explicitly said in the trade post, or else the condition will be voided.
You CANNOT trade picks that have a possible condition attached. For example, if the condition on one trade involves sending either a 2020 1st or a 2021 1st, neither pick can be traded until the condition is met. This means you cannot make another condition on another trade that would cover the other pick. Once a condition is attached to a pick, that pick cannot move until the condition is met.
We are giving a lot of leeway with the conditions. If things go well, the conditions will be opened up even more. Let's see how this plays out.
Each offseason, there will be a five-round entry draft eligible for all players drafted in that year's NHL Draft. These draft picks can be traded before and during the draft. Only draft picks for the current year and the following year can be traded (if the next draft is 2021, then 2021 and 2022 picks can be dealt).
Only players selected in that season's NHL Entry Draft will be eligible for the KPD Entry Draft. This means undrafted players cannot be drafted, they must be won via free agency. Any undrafted players (either undrafted IRL or undrafted in the KPD Draft) will be eligible for claiming via free agency when it opens for that season.
For each entry draft, a lottery will be held at the conclusion of the previous season's playoffs.
We will use a site called Draft Pick Lottery to simulate our lottery. Lottery odds are based off of the previous regular season's standings. The odds follow the real-life structure and are as follows:
- Worst gets 185 balls
- 2nd gets 135
- 3rd gets 115
- 4th gets 95
- 5th gets 85
- 6th gets 75
- 7th gets 65
- 8th gets 60
- 9th gets 50
- 10th gets 35
- 11th gets 30
- 12th gets 25
- 13th gets 20
- 14th gets 15
- 15th gets 10
- 16th gets 5
The top two spots will be decided via the lottery, and the remain spots will go in order of the regular season records.
The most spots a team can move up is 10. So, if the 16th team wins the lottery, they'd move up to 6th. The most spots a team can drop is two slots.
Draft spots 17 through 32 are determined by the playoff results. The Stanley Cup winner picks 32nd, Cup runner-up is 31st, conference finalists are 30th and 29th (tiebreaker: regular season record), then regular season division winners who did not reach the conference finals (tiebreaker: regular season record), and finally the non-division-winning playoff teams that did not reach the conference finals (based on regular season records).
At the conclusion of each KPD Stanley Cup Final, teams will be allowed a Team Tag. The Team Tag will be the only tag in KPD.
The bidding will be done as its own, separate week from all other UFA bidding. It will occur before all UFA bidding in the offseason. The bidding will be open, as usual, and all normal bidding rules will apply. When a high bid stands for 24 hours, there is a decision to be made.
Any player whose contract expires as a UFA at the end of the season must go to UFA and will be a free agent and eligible for Free Agency. For the 2021-22 season, that means that any player whose contract expires at the end of the 2021-22 season is eligible for a Team Tag.
Each team will receive one (1) team tag per season. Only players eligible for Free Agency at seasons end are eligible to be tagged.
A UFA that is tagged goes through the normal bidding process as an UFA, after a bid stands for 24 hours, the tagging team has the option to either match the new contract, or pass on the new contract. Passing on the new contract will awarded said player to the new team.
For example: Alex Ovechkin is a UFA after the 2020-21 season. The KPD Washington Capitals owner decides to Team Tag Ovechkin following the KPD Stanley Cup Final. Ovechkin goes through the bidding process where the KPD New York Rangers win the bid with a 6-year $100.00M contract.
As the original team tagging Ovechkin, the Capitals owner can either accept the contract, thus owning Ovechkin for the next 6 years at a total of $100.00M, or passing on the deal, allowing the New York Rangers to now own Ovechkin's rights.
As the team tagging a UFA, you are not allowed to bid on your own tagged player. However, if you choose to match the highest bid on your tagged player, you can pay a 10% fee on top of total contract value to restructure the deal.
No more than 3 years can be added to the contract signed by the other team. The max lengths you can offer mirror those stipulated in the free agency rules, based on age. You can also restructure the contract for less years, still with a 10% increase.
Example:
Capitals tag Alex Ovechkin. The Bruins then sign Ovechkin for 1 year @ 12M.
The Capitals accept the contract and after the 10% restructure fee the total contract value becomes 13.2M. This can be divided however the Capitals would like.
4 years x $3.3M = $13.2m total
3 years x $4.4M = $13.2m total
2 years x $6.3 = $13.2m total
Because the contract was signed for one year and you cannot restructure for more than three years, Washington could not restructure this into a 5 or 6 year contract.
There is no return compensation to a team who loses a Team Tagged player.
The tagging team will have 48 hours FROM WHEN A COMMISSIONER POSTS ON THE THREAD to make a decision to match or decline the highest bid. If no decision is made within those 48 hours, you will lose the player.
If no bid is placed on the tagged player after 72 hours of posting, the player can be returned to the tagging team at whatever contract term they would like, and at a 150% annual cap hit increase (standard contract min/max applies). If the original tagging team does not want to contract the player at 150% of their previous hit, they can release the player from their tag, making them a UFA and eligible for UFA bidding.
Each team will receive 1 Team Tag per season. Only players entering Unrestricted Free Agency can be tagged. You cannot trade a team tag.
The minimum bid is $0.78M. There is no maximum salary, but Team Tag contracts must fit within the following parameters:
$0.78M - $1.50M AAV you can offer a max of 2 years.
$1.51M - $3.00M AAV you can offer a max of 4 years.
$3.01 AAV and above - age maximums apply.
For the 2023-24 season: You can team tag anyone acquired prior to the deadline to declare who you are using your team tag on, which falls more in line with IRL scenarios.
For the 2022-23 season: The player that your team designates for a Team Tag MUST be acquired by your team no later than that season's KPD trade deadline.
If a player retires while they are on their IRL contract in this league, then the owner can release the player with no cap penalty.
If the the player retires while on a KPD Free Agency contract or a KPD contract extension, then the owner can release the player, but they would have to pay 50% of the cap hit for every year left on the contract.
In addition to one Team Tag, each team will get one contract extension per season.
For the inaugural season, you will be allowed to extend ONE (1) player set to become a UFA after the 2020-21 season. You must extend said player during the 48-hour contract extension window that will occur prior to the start of the first KPD scoring period.
There will be a specific day marked in the KPD calendar where contract extensions can be signed.
Teams may give one contract extension to a player with at least one full future year remaining on their contract. If a player is a UFA at the end of the current season then they may not be resigned and must go to FA. The extension may add up to 3 years onto the contract, at an increase of 150% of the player's highest paid year. A player may never exceed 6 years in contract length from the time the contract is signed, until the conclusion of the extension.
Contract extensions CANNOT be traded. Contract extensions will be based off a player's highest paid year at the BASE salary, NOT retained cap hit.
You ARE allowed to use your extension on a player signed in KPD Free Agency.
YOU CANNOT EXTEND BEFORE A PLAYER'S RFA YEAR.
You have until 24 hours after the conclusion of the IRL Stanley Cup Final to use your contract extension.
We hold every member to a very high standard in this league and if you step out of line one too many times penalties WILL be handed out, NO EXCEPTIONS. We are all here to have fun and play a game. There are various infractions for which you can be fined which include, but are not limited to,

CHEATING/COLLUDING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. ANY PARTY THAT IS FOUND TO HAVE ANY PART IN CHEATING WILL BE IMMEDIATELY BANNED FOR LIFE. DON'T CHEAT.

Rosters and League Scoring
Call-Ups and Send-Downs
Season Opening Roster Lock
24-hours following the first IRL NHL game, any player who is in your minors and not eligible (player not on ELC, not in currently in the minors IRL, or playing internationally) and has 10 NHL GP (5 for goalies) or more, will be placed on demotion waivers.
Schedule
Playoffs
The KPD Playoffs will have the same structure as the IRL Stanley Cup Playoffs. This means that there will be 16 playoff teams: the top three teams from each division, and four total Wild Card teams (two from the West, two from the East).
In the event of a tie, the first tiebreaker is head-to-head regular season record. If there is a tie there as well, next would be most goals plus assists for that matchup (or most goals plus assists for the season, if tie is for a playoff spot), and after that would be more points in the regular season standings. If there is still a tie after that, the commissioner will address it then.
Payouts
32 teams x $30 = $960
Stanley Cup Champion: $570
Runner Up: $225
KPD Pacific Division Winner: $25
KPD Central Division Winner: $25
KPD Metro Division Winner: $25
KPD Atlantic Division Winner: $25
KPD Presidents' Trophy Winner: $25
Eastern Conference Runner Up: $20
Western Conference Runner Up: $20
IRL Contracts/Extensions
Free Agency
Free Agency (UFA)
Players with no NHL/AHL experience
If you place a claim and win the claim on a player who does not meet these requirements, the player will be removed from your roster and you will lose your previous spot in the waiver wire order.
If you wish to sign a player who does not have NHL or AHL experience, AKA: an undrafted free agent, or a prospect who has yet to appear in an AHL or NHL game, you will need to place a waiver claim on said player.
Players who are not owned by a team in KPD and have not yet played one (1) NHL or AHL game will remain on waivers until claimed. Therefore, in order to sign a player without AHL or NHL experience, a waiver claim must be placed.
For a player to be eligible for waivers, his rights must be owned by an NHL team
Waiver claims for these players will now be posted on ProBoards. You can have a max of two (2) concurrent claims; if you have multiple bids, you must designate a prioritization in your post (e.g. "Ted McGoogle (claim 1 of 2)" + "Glenn Buttwhistle (claim 2 of 2)").
Bidding on these players ends 24 hours after the initial post.

Waiver Wire
Demotion Waivers
If a player does not meet the qualifications listed in Call-Ups and Send-Downs, he can still be sent to the minors using demotion waivers.
If the player goes through demotion waivers unclaimed, he will go to the minors, and the team will only have to pay 50% of that player's cap hit. These are the only players in the minors who will be at 50% their cap hit.
If the player is claimed, the claiming team must assign him to their active roster. The claiming team will be responsible for the whole salary, and the waiving team will be cleared of all penalties.

Termination Waivers
If a team no longer wishes to own a player's services, they can be placed on Termination Waivers.
If the player is either on their ELC, still has not signed their first contract, or does not have a contract at all, they can be waived for no cap penalty. However, if the player was signed via free agency in KPD, you will have to pay a 50% cap penalty, regardless of their IRL status.
For all other players, if the player is unclaimed, the owning team pays a penalty of 50% each season that fell under the players contract when he was owned by your team. If a player is claimed, the waiving team no longer has to pay the penalty.

You may NOT cancel pending signings. You must accept the signing, and address any issues after it is official.
Amnesty Buyouts

Trading
Trade Conditions
KPD Entry Draft
Team Tag
Retirements
If a player retires while they are on their IRL contract in this league, then the owner can release the player with no cap penalty.
If the the player retires while on a KPD Free Agency contract or a KPD contract extension, then the owner can release the player, but they would have to pay 50% of the cap hit for every year left on the contract.
KPD Contract Extension
